You can’t have a 1st, 2 2nds and a 3rd round pick in next 3 years total during a rebuild unless you’re the best 7th round drafter ever.
Obviously this will never happen, but if it did I think it'd be safe to say the rebuild would be over. Acquiring two 30-plus centers means you are going for it and no longer in the middle of a rebuild. Hence the name 'cup champs'.

Even if Pitt needs more value in return for a trade of one of their mega stars- no way do the Rangers include Chytl, Georgiev, OR a 1st round pick (let alone in an expected deep draft) in ANY trade for a 33 year old player...NYR have jumped off that train
The first is 2021 so they keep their 1st rounder for next years deep draft.
I think the logic would be that they get another good player in 2020, then they will be contending, so their 1sts after that will be late 20s. Chytil is the future and I dont believe he'll be traded, but acquiring Malkin while having Zibenejad negates the need for Chytil. Yes he's 33, but he's not just any 33 year old player, hes a future hall of famer. Marty St. Louis was what 38 when he came to New York and he was huge in their playoff run.
Shesterkin will hopefully be the real deal which will allow them to let go of Georgiev.
Anyway this is all just made up stuff that will never really happen, so oh well.
