Also I doubt the Isles decline. Ho-Sang has literally 0 value and Janmark has been playing the worth of a 3rd this year. It’s a fair deal for both sides. Ottawa I can understand

They have a roster full of bottom 6ers. No need for more. Ho-sang can rot. Better then adding more cap space in bottom 6.

Cool, but they are not retaining for 5 years. Fans are emotional and make rash decisions. GMs certainly aren’t above doing something dumb. But i’ll give Billy G benefit of the doubt.

If it were me, I would be glad to retain $1.5 for the next 5 years! It would allow the Wild to play/develop young players instead of all the old farts getting all the ice time. The 1.5 is irrelevant in the big picture as it will be about 5 years before the team might possibly be relevant again. Plus, with Zuccarello gone, the Wild would be an even worse team and that would help them in future drafts.
If retaining is an issue, I would trade Zuccarello for the conditional 3rd OR Tufte alone...and I wouldn’t have to spend 1 second making that decision.
