He won't waive to go to NYR

Why's that? The only thing keeping him from going to the KHL is his desire to win the Stanley Cup.....

What about the $13M? Playing with all the Russians in New York? Playing in a Russian heavy NYC? Chance that NYR contends (slim) ? Rangers were a finalist when he was gonna sign

NYR have 0 center depth and one of there best wingers will be traded at the Deadline. They are nowhere near Cup contention. They probably won't even make the playoffs. If playing with fellow Russian teammates was a huge want of his then he wouldn't be playing here. He'd be in Russia. He also can get paid a lot more in the KHL.

The majority of his contract is paid out December 16th, only 4.8M remains after that. He could easily make equal to that in Russia, he will waive only to a competitor and those competitors will want to know he is sticking around if they are paying for him. No one will take him because it's a really bad deal for an old guy, who could leave the next healthy scratch he gets.
