Lineup going forward

Created by: cubro

Initial Creation Date: Nov. 18, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is the best lineup with what we have. I like our young puck movers on the back end and feel Jones is better than Russell. Also keeps us with 8 nhl dmen and creates healthy competition. Everybody on the back end can move the puck except maybe larsson.

Forwards this is pretty straightforward. I like the way this 4th line plays and the 3rd line can cycle down low quite well. Nygaard is still a wildcard but I think that line needs speed since neal isn't the quickest.

Jesus I'd hope they aspire to be more than what they currently are.

In order to be roster-compliant, Persson would have to remain in the AHL, which is fine. He hasn't looked great since his concussion and will still make his full NHL salary in the minors. IF it better prepares him for being a positive asset for the Oilers in 20-21, be it on the roster or in a trade, I'm fine with that.

I doubt that either Russell or Tippet would stand for Russell being scratched despite every other defender actively on the roster being miles better than Russell. There needs to be a trade somehow to get him off the roster and ensure that Jones sees NHL icetime for the remainder of the season. On that note, Nurse isn't a culpable puck-mover either. He's great at rushing the puck, but can't make a breakout pass to save his life. Would be the only hang-up I have with offering him north of $6M, but most other aspects of his game warrant that kind of payday.

I can definitely agree on not wanting to keep nurse @ north of 6m but I think he's having a pretty good year and would rather him than larsson, since nurse can skate. So I guess the best scenario would be moving one of the 3 for a forward? Can't see Russell getting anything unless you package him with JP

It'll likely be a dinosaur of GM that acquires Russell, an opportune swap of bad-for-bad, or a combination of both. I think Florida could be had, it's just a matter of getting past Kris' M-NTC.

If Nurse signs a deal comparable to Morrissey's, I can live with it. I don't trade Larsson until next season's trade deadline.
