Hmm. On the face of it, you offer the Blues decent value. Chekhovich would be a very redundant prospect for us, so I'm not sure we'd want to take him - but, yeah, whatever. The much bigger thing is, we're not going to want to make this deal until summer. When summer comes, we'll be all for it.

With Kostin in the system I’d totally get that. Chekhovich is low risk high reward. In order to make it happen this season it might require a better prospect like Chmelevski or a higher pick, which I’d consider with Jakes numbers this year, he’s looking pretty good.

Yeah I’d pass on that. Jake has proven to be way too inconsistent to take his whole salary.

Oh hell, I didn't even notice the retention. Yeah, trading Snake is not gonna fly if we aren't shedding cap. Besides, not only does he seem to have fixed his mechanics problems (you should watch him now), but he's definitely worlds better than what you have now (which is just consistently awful).

Inconsistent meaning he shows flashes of brilliance then becomes an AHL backup goalie for a couple months and then he’s back again. I wouldn’t pay his current cap for that.

Like I said, and he's still way better than Jones (who's about $1.4M more expensive on a deal that stretches until 2024) or Dell. But this time, I actually think he won't be regressing anymore. It looks like he's fixed his technical issues.
