Pretty sure 99.9% of any team (hockey at least) do this. Serious yet fun, brainwashing, respect, teamwork, loyalty thing. At least all the way down to junior A teams...

I search engined images of the Rangers locker room and it looks like there's a carpet with the Rangers logo over the carpet, which makes sense when other sport teams (like the Knicks) use the locker room. I believe they also roll up and remove the Rangers logo carpet after the game when the reporters enter the locker room to do post game interviews. Yesterday in between periods the tv briefly showed the Rangers locker room and the poor equipment guy was having a tough time doing his job straddling the Rangers logo.

I've been in a couple of locker rooms, but said teams we're only a one sport city, hockey. Ottawa Senators, Cornwall Aces/Royals/Colts & Erie Otters. Never thought of different sport teams that have to share same dressing room!?? Weird. The whole exercise is about never forgetting and jumping through hoops to respect. When my team was invited in, we were repeatedly warned, in a fun way, Not to step on logo. Then they all kept an eye on us, again in a fun way. Totally intimidating and fond memory...
