The Avs don't need NYR to retain. I also don't think Sakic is trading his 1st rounder this year. He's not in a rush to add pieces when he believes he did a good job getting depth last off-season. I think Kreider goes to Alberta where the media won't stop talking about needing to add another Top 6 forward.

Really? Well now I just don't like him haha! If Sakic is giving up the 1st rounder, Kreider is a good candidate, I like his physicality. I actually just have trouble seeing him slotting in unless there's a grave injury. Personally the guys I would not mind see leaving are Jost, Kaut, Kamenev and Zadorov. Two of them (depending on who, Kaut / Jost still have that 1st rounder potential so they'd likely ) plus a conditional 2021 3rd that becomes a 2021 2nd if he re-signs or the Avs make it past the 1st round I think is fair. Even though Big Z is a great physical defenseman, I think Graves is overcoming him with a better scoring flare.

Jost or Kaut + Zadorov or Kamenev + Conditional 3rd that becomes a 2nd?

Otherwise an ok prospect like Ranta and a 1st is likely fair market value.
