Reports say he hadn’t started skating yet. Not even sure if he’s fit to play.

Dude Dustin Byfuglien isn't playing this year, He's still nursing an ankle injury plus hasn't even skated yet. There's like 2 months left in the season. It would take him that long just to get back to skating and into game shape. Not enough time.

I don't mind the concept, to be honest. Just not sure if he's motivated to sign somewhere. I would have to think he is. Why would he drop his grievance and forfeit all that cash in order to become a UFA?

Not sure this would be the best strategy for a team...but what if you sign him to whatever pro-rated $3-5m or so....stash him on LTIR...send him to minors for a conditioning stint near the end of the season....add him to the roster for playoffs when cap is no longer in effect. Not sure what shape he'd be in to make that worth while, but also very low risk

Pretty much my thoughts.. 1 year deal with performance/games played incentives. if he isn't in shape we wasted however much, i'll take that for a guy who could be a huge game changer for us if he can regain form
