Created by: netminder71
Team: 2020-21 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 25, 2020
Published: Feb. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lots of activity:
- Sell off the failed Jensen experiment for a pick
- Ovechkin gets a re-up for $9,999,999 x 5 so he can catch Gretzky (after Jan 1st)
- Keep Gudas as cheap as possible for a couple years until some prospects mature
- Re-up Siegs on bridge deal
- Re-up depth like Leipsic, Boyd, Gersich, Sprong, Lewington, as all may get role player minutes
- Spin off Panik...maybe...he didn't produce like they expected
- Moving Panik makes room to work in Sprong and Leason at NHL level
- Bring in a saavy veteran goalie to help Sammie mature (like Halak)
- If Kempny doesn't regain his form, bring up Alexeyev and sell off Kempny, put Fehervary w/ Carlson and Alexeyev w/ 3rd pairing

I basically agree with all of this. Though McMichael will more than likely be on the team. Also, people are sleeping on Sprong. Dude is a legit top 9 NHL player right now.

    We won't get anything close to a 2nd for Holtby's right. Maybe a 4th.

Same with the LA trade, doubt we get a 2nd unless they really like Johansen. But the best thing to do with LuJo is keep him for next season and hope he stays healthy then move him next summer.

I personally disagree with re-signing Gudas, I feel like that money could (and imo should) be spent on retaining Dillon, if he continues to play as good as he is now. Other than that and McMichael probably being on the team like said before this makes sense to me

Either / Or I guess but not both. My point is that Dillon has played a little reckless in his few games, and Gudas has had decent streaks. Plus if the Caps spin off Jensen to some other team (please) they'll need RHD like Gudas or guys that can play the right side like Siegs...they have a TON of LHD in the pipeline. LucasJo, Alexeyev, Fehervary...etc.
