Well there’s probably going to be a compliance buyout so lucic is gone and even if lucic stay the flames would never trade the heart and soul of their team for a few top 9 players with duclair being the only one who has a top 6 chance and a late first. The flames aren’t in any cap trouble at all.

It's clear you don't know who these players even are, I'm not sure Ottawa would even want this trade, but I'll leave it at that.

Abramov has been in the ahl mostly and isn’t even Ppg and duclair has only had one good season after many bad ones he probably won’t be this good again even if he maintains this play he is only a 50 point guy which is good but not that good and wouldn’t get the ice time in Calgary like he did in Ottawa so would probably be a 30-40 point guy and soggard is good but flames have Rittich who isn’t old and wolf coming up who has been looking good and islanders pick will be a late first, so like I said abramov will be probably a third line scorer, duclair a second liner, soggard a good starter and a decent prospect from the first. But none of those players are guaranteed to be anything they are all gambles where as tkachuk is an elite player who can do everything and is a future captain. No way flames would risk giving him up for a gamble like that. Also flames aren’t looking for prospects they want to win soon.

Duclair is a 30 point guy tears of joy tears of joy Abramov "isn't even Ppg", though he did have 41 points in 51 games as a 21 year old and is incredibly talented. This trade was actually very reasonable if Calgary wanted to shed Lucic's salary, if not then it makes no sense, for sure.

I’m saying duclair is 30-40 points on Calgary because he won’t get the ice time he needs, he would be on the second pp and the third line so and I agree it would be not as bad if the flames were in cap trouble but they aren’t and abramov was barley top 50 in ahl scoring which isn’t bad but he isn’t anything that special probably middle six at best.

One could argue that Duclair would be a 70 point guy on a strong Calgary team and that he's a player that still hasn't even reached his prime. Abramov has the potential to be a top-line player. He's extremely talented, he's fast, has a great shot, and he's really nice to watch.
