Sabres pass no interest in trading McCabe for just a second round pick. Also Anderson is not under contract so the Sens cannot trade him even if someone were interested in acquiring him.

why would the sabres trade for a 39 year old goalie who is a UFA?

i would trade mccabe for a 2nd round pick in a heartbeat.

Besides Dahlin he are only LD and besides Joker he is the only other D man that shows some semblance of defensive reliability

he is also easily replaceable and is a free agent after this season.

I am not sure how easy it will be to replace players as I think signing UFA's will be very difficult. A second round pick may easily be better than him in 2-3 years, but this team does not have the luxury or depth in the organization to wait for that to happen. If they had not lost Pilut I would be more inclined to agree with you, but none of there Right shot D proved very effective in playing the left side so replacing to left D is not a small ask for an organization in their position
