Description
Sergachev signs an offer sheet which gives Tampa a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 2021

Tampa trades Point to Buffalo for 8oa, Cousins and Jokiharju. BIG PACKAGE, Buffalo should accept though in my mind. Buffalo doesn't want to trade any of those 3 pieces but Point is exactly what they need. Having Point Centering their 2nd line or on wing with Eichel would be terrifying. They still have 3 other good right hand dman, so they can manage.

Cernak and Cerelli sign 2 year deals - They would be up for renewal as Palat's contract expires, freeing up some cap.

The reason I traded Point is because he doesn't have a no trade clause, he got a substantial package back, plus his QO when he is RFA is extremely high and Tampa will be in big Cap Problems again at that time. So this avoids all of that down the road.

Biggest problem I can see moving forward is that Jokiharju is an RFA at years end. But Cap wise they will be better off. So they should be able to work things out.

Tampa can also look at trading Killorn if they want to free up cash space (and not trade point) - But in that scenario they are still having cap issues now and later on and their right d corp looks awful.

Anyways, have fun everyone :)

Buffalo could just make a package around 8th overall to get Cirelli, without giving up Jokiharju, and Cozens.

Point is a good player but that is not worth it for Buffalo

They could definitely do that. Wouldn't be a bad idea in my mind! Buffalo really needs some superstar/star power to support Eichel. Cirelli would be a good #2/3 center. Point is a top line forward, who is young and plays center. Would slot in either with Eichel or right behind him. With Olofsson, Reinhart, Skinner, their forward group starts looking quite Scary. And their D Group is still very nice!

Cirelli for 8th overall is the more conservative approach though and would probably be a good one!

Cirelli would be the better approach. Point is up for a new contract in 3 years and with all of the other players that will get paid between now and then that negotiation alone would be difficult. Additionally the organization has stated they are committed to building the team through developing young talent, I cannot see them moving there 3 best young assets for 1 just about any 1 player.

That has been the main point people have brought up in the discussions. Either offer sheet Cirelli or trade 8oa for him. That is totally faIr.
