In which world should Dermott get half a million more than Mikheyev?

Dermott did not do anything this season to justify that. On the Maple Leafs he is 21st in Corsi, while he also had the 21st most defensive zone shifts and 13th in offensive shifts.

I think the only thing Dermott really proved this season that he is in danger of falling to 5th in the depth chart of LHD, as Rielly and Muzzin are kind of given, while Sandin showed a lot of upside and a lot of scouts are really high on Lehtonen.

And I am not trying to **** on Dermott. I do think that he is a top 6 LHD on a lot of NHL teams and still shows upside to be a top 4 LHD

The offense isn't there yet, but he was one of the better defensive guys on the Leafs this year. Relative CA/60 and xGA/60 were both well in the negative and 5.2 EVD. Not saying he should be overpaid or anything, but I think that looking at him as 5th on the LHD depth chart on a team that struggles defensively is a mistake

you can bet that Lehtonen would not have signed with the Leafs if they did not believe that he is going to play quite a bit. And Sandin kind of shown that he has outgrown the AHL. So I'd put him ahead of Dermott because he just shows quite a bit of upside and has outgrown the AHL.

Lehtonen will play 3RD unless he gets blown out of the water or proves he can handle 1 or 2 RD (depending on who you call the 1st pair)
Dermott methinks Dermott is starting on the right side next year to keep him in the top 6, UNLESS he is traded with Kappanen or Johnsson for a RD.

I’m sure another team may want kerfoot but oilers should stay as far away from him as possible. Less than zero interest in him.

I don't disagree with you on that. But should't the Leafs just throw in Dermott into a trade with Johnsson to get a solid D who is actually a natural RHD?

Yea i mentioned that in a post above, if it was someone like Connor Murphy or Matt Roy for Durmott, Johnsson and maybe picks i would definitely consider it, unfortunately i don't see CHI or LAK trading away Roy or Murphy as they are young RD.
