Roster Attempt 7

Created by: NJ11
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 23, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trying to balance out the depth and looking at having 3 lines that can score while the 4th can play some 5 on 5 while primarily being players that can rotate on the PK is solid. I think sliding ferraro into the top 4 with Karlsson and reducing Vlasic's play time a bit will give an older blue-line more balance over what seems to be looking like a congested season ahead. Anderson is a gamble worth taking because he can be a useful top 9 forward and adding another power forward type wing to a line that already feature Hertl and Kane would be a good stylistic fit. I think the sharks should aim for a roster like this because the contracts signed are easy to move should they need to do it at the TD or move on from a player next offseason.

I agree but unless they get good value out of a trade, this ensures a more balanced approach that doesn't handcuff them further in terms of too much cap on one FA guy. Imo you attempt a year like where the roster is competitive but not quite elite so that you can retool more effectively. All of these players here like Haula, Labnac, Wagner, Anderson, Eakin, and Reider have value as rentals to teams. It's a flexible situation that gives them options which is what they need rn if they want to retool and contend on the fly within the next 2-3 years. Thanks for the input, appreciate your outlook!

We are not interested in doing a winger swap with Andy. Certainly not for a downgrade and a pick. Gambling on him bouncing back is of higher value to us than that.
