Why Lundell so high?

because he is really good.

I hope the Leafs would not pick that player where he is listed here. At the end of the first round or the 2nd would be better

I think Lundell could go higher than where he's pegged to go in most of these mocks. At 17, he put up 19 in 38 (.5 PPG), playing in a Finnish League against men. At 18, he amassed 28 in 44 (.64 PPG). He's also been described as a VERY responsible, two-way center.

Liiga stats

17 year olds:
Rasmus Kupari .36 PPG (Draft Year)
Sebastion Aho .42 PPG (Draft Year)
Jesperi Kotkaniemi .49 PPG (Draft Year)
Anton Lundell .50 PPG (D-1)
Jesse Puljujarvi .56 PPG (Draft Year)
Patrik Laine .72 PPG (Draft Year)

18 year olds:
Alexandrea Texier .42 PPG (D+1)
Anton Lundell .64 PPG (Draft Year)
Rasmus Kupari .77 PPG (D+1)
Sebastion Aho 1.0 PPG (D+1)

This wasn't super helpful in making my point, I guess - as Lundell has a very late birthday. But, if MTL took a chance on Kotkaniemi at #3 (who also has a late-ish birthday), I wouldn't be surprised if DET did at #4 this year.

Although, Kotkaniemi's skating and puck skills were much better than Lundell's in their respective draft years.

I get your point. I like that player a lot. Just gets it done. No flash. Reminds me of the Staal bro’s a bit. He’s got potential to be a strong 2C in the NHL. Maybe a Selke candidate.
