Sergachev + Lehkonen

Created by: CaptainFlynnt
Team: 2016-17 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 20, 2016

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sergachev is the best of both Pateryn and Barberio. His skill, skating and physicality are all ready for the NHL, having him round out our top 6 alongside emelin gives us the best chance to compete for the cup. I expect him to gradually earn his way up to the number one pairing over the next 3 seasons.

Lehkonen's great shot and his scoring ability will complement desharnais and andrighetto very nicely. Would not be suprised to see him work his way into the top 6 replacing shaw.

McCarron and Carr are both good enough to make the team but they don't need to clear waivers to be sent down. I'd personally rather have carr on the team over byron but I don't think byron was signed to a 3 year deal to be the 13th forward. Look for carr and McCarron to be the 1st call ups in case of injuries.

Habs should try to move Condon before the season starts to get some value for him. San Jose gets a back up for Jones and montreal has lindgren and fucale in the AHL.

Exposed to waivers: Redmond, Matteau, Farnham, Terry

Not too sure if the third line can be a good checking line and they are too small unless the emphasis is speed that is why McCarron and Carr could potentially be on DD's wings because of their size but hoping for Andrighetto and Lehkonen to impress and contribute but don't really want a small bottom 6 but if Lehkonen and Andrighetto are bonifide Nhl'ers I'm happy.

I'd be really happy with this lineup but that third line will get pushed around way too easily. One of Carr or McCarron should be there instead of one of Lehkonen or Andrighetto.

It's a tough call, andrighetto needs to pass through waivers and he'd surely be claimed by another team so he's likely going to make it. Carr has a couple inches and lbs on lehkonen but lehkonen definitely has the edge in skill. We'll just have to see about McCarron, he's a beast but from what I seen at the end of last year I don't think he's ready unless he's made significant improvements over the offseason. His size is really needed in the lineup though. Loved the Lehkonen-McCarron-Scherbak line in the rookie tournament hopefully that can be a line in 2017-18.

I'd like to add that even though the third line is undersized, I still think all 3 players have the speed and skill to give other teams trouble.

The problem with this team is if we aren't beating them on the scoresheet, we have literally nothing to help turn the tide in terms of physicality, etc. TB has a bunch of good forwards but they are also very feisty and stick up for themselves. Plus a couple bigger/tougher guys like Boyle and Callahan.

Carr plays a lot more rugged and McCarron has the size needed. I would think at least one of them would have to be added. Just to give the team a little more physicality when it calls for it.

I think you're right I agree the habs need one of those guys in the lineup. I don't think McCarron will start the year with montreal but I think he'll finish with them. I think carr will make the team and he deserves it on the 4th line at least over byron and others. I'd really like to see lehkonen make the team this year and I think he'd do well on a line with Radulov.
