Toews gets more. I’m pretty sure Dobson is untouchable.

Toews can just go to arbitration and get between 3-3.5

My friend keeps saying we should trade for Laine so that's why i made this. If we're building the team to win now we probably keep Pulock and trade dobson for offence (Laine in this case). Pulock is a current top pair D man while its what dobson could be in a few years. Personally I wouldn't trade Dobson but realistically it would be how I believe a laine trade would be done. I did kinda lowball Toews, he wasn't on his A game in the later rounds of the playoffs and I think he lost a bit of money on his next contract. His contract should probably be around 2.75 for 2 years not 3 looking back on it

I think they would ask for pulock over Dobson. I just don’t think we’re getting Laine because WPG is going to ask for an insane overpay and then Laine is going to want over 9 million on his next deal when he’s not even worth that. The opportunity cost is just too much.

I can see WPG asking for:
Pulock, beauvillier , and a 2021 1st

And there’s no chance I would do that. Someone is going to overpay for Laine and the trade isn’t going to look great in a few years. Id rather trade for ehlers. Even though he’s better, he won’t get as much in a trade because Laine has that elite G scorer pedigree .

I agree, made the roster based around the trade because of my friend, Id rather not give up Dobson in the first place, and giving up Pulock would hurt us in the short term and makes the trade not worth it at all, certainly cant add beau to that trade too and that's defiantly closer to what Winnipeg would ask for. I saw trading Dobson, Leddy, and Bellows as a fair return because Winnipeg can get a top pair D man in a few years, add leddy as a solid guy that can play in a 4th D-man role, plus bellows who could be a middle 6 guy. Realistically Winnipeg wants to have more roster players than potential future ones (even if Dobson would crack the lineup now, he is not a top pair guy yet which they are looking for).

Ehlers is certainly a more viable option for a trade to work between the two teams, certainly fits better in the Trotz system too.
