2022 Team Canada

Created by: Gabe_Talks
Team: 2021-22 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2020
Published: Sep. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This roster is based off of Talking Hockey's mock roster for Team Canada, though my roster is modified. I will be updating it as we get closer to the Olympics. I'm not including any of the upcoming prospects and draft picks because that'd basically be a prediction. I think it'd be best to see the first sample sizes of them as NHLers so that I can determine exactly where I think they belong rather than just throwing them on the list based on how good I think that they'll be.

I excluded Bergeron because he's already 35 and has started aging, so I don't think he'll be at the Olympic level anymore by then.

Also, pay no attention to the salary cap or the contracts. They're required in order to make teams, so I just put all of the contracts at league minimum so I don't have to worry about the cap.

That's why it's only based on his team. If you compare our teams, our rosters are totally different. What I followed from him is gaining insight on their playstyles, who is best at what, and matching them up accordingly. For example, Talking Hockey had Scheifele on his team, while I have Barzal.

I know it's unpopular, but tbh, I'm not feeling all the Chabot hype just yet because he's still developing his game. He's only been in the league for two years, and he's not on the level of Makar, who's argubaly borderline generational, so I'm curious to see how he develops from here, but I'm not gonna go nuts over him just yet.

same thing happened with mark stone, cause he plays for ottawa everyone underestimates him and doesn’t watch him. he is a top 15 dman in the league without a doubt in my mind. plays 30+ mins a night, carrying the team on his back and making plays. hes unreal.

I can definitely see him making the team, but these defensemen I personally think are better than him right now. Plus Spurgeon is by far the most underrated defensemen in the entire NHL. His analytics are some of the best in the league. He's a Norris caliber defensemen. And I wouldn't say that Chabot is ignored because he's a Senator. Ottawa is Canada's capital, and they have arguably the best prospect pool in the league, along with the 3rd and 5th overall picks, as well as three 2nd Rounders. Everyone's watching the re-emergance of the Senators right now.
