Absolutely. It's an all-or-nothing kind of move with huge potential to backfire but I think anything short of that doesn't get the deal done. I wouldn't do it if I was DW.

Oh yeah for sure. That's the kind of trade Buffalo would want. But that's also the very reason trades like this DON'T happen. Neither side wants to get burnt.
Now, if there were to be some external factor (Eichel demands a trade, does something stupid off-ice, etc.) that makes a trade more urgent, then Buffalo would get desperate and might do a trade like the ones we see on here regularly.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: PR and public image are huge when teams make transactions. Hockey is a business and teams need to keep people coming to the games.
