Some thoughts on the Senator picks. There has been a lot of talk about Askarov at 5. this makes no sense. Sens have Hogberg and 4 good goalie prospect. (Sogard, Daccord, Gutafsson and Mandolese). Sens traded up in the 2nd round last year to take Sogard because their scouts were sold on him so why give up on him after one year? If your scouts are asking you to pass on elite forwards to take a can't miss goalie why would you believe them when they are the same scouts who had you use assets to move up to take a goalie last year? I know Dorion generally leaves picks to the scouts but 3 and 5 are franchise defining picks and he must weigh in.

If Lapierre is still available at 33 there is no way the Sens will pass. He is a hometown boy for all intents and purposes as he comes from Gatineau which is literally across the bridge from Ottawa. He is francophone and with the departure of Gatineau boy Pageau, Ottawa needs to market to the French community which is an important factor as the Sens need to sell tickets in Gatineau.
