We have to invest in grit. We have a good team and should trust our depth BUT we need to be the dominate physical team in the playoffs.

Kaut, O'Connor, and Bowers battle for rosters spots in camp. Who knows maybe the overtake bellemare (doubtful but you never know) for a spot.

This can be a big breakout year for connor timmins. As can it for Bowen Byram. You might be confused on the Zdeno Chara signing, but there are reasons for this. First, no matter how old he gets, he exists at a physical force. This is what we missed in the playoffs. Dallas bullied us because we had the likes of Girard and Jost left trying to clear people out from the front of the net. Whereas I agree a pair of Makar and Girard can be lethal offensively and have a place during games, we need a physical presence on the back end for steady chuggin. Secondly, we know not everyone is going to stay healthy, Chara has a good record of avoiding injuries, can act as a mentor and guardian for Timmins/Byram. Obviously we need Byram/Timmins to get playing time and initially they trade games paired with Chara to get experience and who knows, maybe they are able to be paired with eachother by the latter half of the season.

Newhook addition would be like the Makar addition when he joined the team during the playoffs. Newhook would get a whole college season done and get to join the team at the end of the year.
