Palmieri costs a 1st and prospect if the Devils don’t decide to resign him, the cap dump for Hutton and Okposo will cost you more in that trade.

Id put Palmieri at a 2nd and a prospect (Ruotsalainen), especially in covid cap era, theirs not going to be many options without NJ eating salary as well. I also think and as you prove, Palmieri is over rated and approaching 30, NJ would be better suited to letting their youth take over the top 6. Also if they bury Okposo he has a similar cap hit as Palmieri, then they can try to dump him in Seattle or buy out his final year, its not a huge cap dump.

Philly probably doesn't do that with Patrick still unclear, yeah they need a top 4 RD, and Montour is a solid pickup for Philly, but Laughton is a very valuable member of the Flyers and really showed in the playoffs that his two way game helps the club and really fills into their mentality of strong two way players.

I actually love this deal for Philly. Laughton was good in the round robin but ended up a healthy scratch as the playoffs went along. Montour is a definite upgrade in a position they desperately need
