The Vegas Golden Knights will have cap space to burn so spend heavily in the short term on the ticket selling Kovalchuk as his KHL deal is expiring. Bettman just won't be able to turn down putting him in Vegas. The NHL roster will look something like the following with the above trades:

Killorn-Perreault-Silfverberg
Kovalchuk-Jarnkrok-Nichushkin
Dzingel-Girgorenko-Mantha
Byron-Pirri-Ferland
Larsson-SmithPelly

Davidson-Brodin
Orlov-Pysyk
DeMelo-Pokka
Sbisa

Cassels, Rattie, Rychel, Reway, G.Reinhart, Pulock, J.Subban and Stolarz will begin their Vegas careers in the AHL.

The biggest needs for this roster is a #1C and a #1D and perhaps Vegas gets lucky and gets one of the two in the 2017 Draft by selecting either Nolan Patrick or Timothy Liljegren.

...also, convince Ralph Krueger to come coach!

The trades are creative and realistic to the post-expansion draft frenzy of activity I anticipate. Convincing the Russians to come back to the NHL for an expansion team sounds like a huge stretch until you factor in Vegas' abundant cap space and need for marketable forward talent. It's still unreasonable, but an interesting solution to one of the most pressing roster issues for Year 1.
I think there is a considerable deal of talent left on the table with some of these selections, especially on the blue line and between the pipes. Pirri is a quality depth forward, but Klein is a top 4 D man for just about any team outside of Nashville, and he is signed past 2017 to boot. Unless the Rangers shake up their roster before June, Klein is quite possibly the easiest selection Vegas makes, in my opinion. Also, the Pens have already traded one goalie for future assets this year instead of letting him go for nothing - and I would expect the return on MAF would be much much more than the 5th rounder Rutherford got for Condon. That being said, I like your analysis and your strategy. Certainly one of the better Vegas projects out there on AGM right now.
