If we can deal spoons and C.Miller before the expansion draft you think that maybe just maybe then they might consider risking a Kevan Miller draft expansion pick ?

I think so. Since coming back from injury he's been playing pretty well and has stepped up in tha absence of Chara. Bruins only have to protect 3D (Krug, Chara, and C.Miller/Morrow) leaving Beleskey, Nash, Moore, Liles, Mcquaid, Miller, Schaller, Subban as the unprotected. Its a bit of a stretch but not unimaginable given who's available.

I've been thinking. Do you think Chara would go in the expansion if we asked him to waive the NMC so that we could protect C. Miller. I don't see Vegas wanting a 40 year old defender with his days behind him over say Beleskey or Hayes as the forwards who would most likely be available. What do you guys think?

I think at this point, it would be more valuable to keep Chara and have another young defenseman (McAvoy) in the system come up and play alongside him at limited minutes.

Yeah I agree there's value in him mentoring another young d, I meant like is there enough value there for Vegas to take him over say Hayes or Beleskey? If not, I think it would be interesting if they protect someone like Colin instead

I would think he is more valuable than Beleskey or Hayes especially for an expansion franchise that could use a leader like Chara for their first season, a player the team as a whole can learn from but I don't see it happening. I honestly see Vegas signing a veteran Bruins UFA like Liles or Moore at this point to a 1 year deal.

How does Vegas signing our UFAs work? Is there any compensation we give them or they have to give up?
At this rate I think if Nash keeps up his fairly solid season, even he could be a choice for Vegas. He has been a solid center this year and has a cap hit of less than 1 mil for next season, and is still under the age of 30.

How it works is that if they sign a Bruins pending UFA before the expansion draft (which is before july 1st) that player counts as the expansion pick. So if Moore signed with Vegas before the draft, Vegas would not need to take anyone from Boston in the expansion.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Now say they take Hayes in the draft, and then 3 days later sign Moore, is that fair game or is there any repercussions on Vegas?

That should be allowed. Its just that Vegas has a 48 hour window before the expansion draft to get a head start so I believe they would be able to take Hayes then sign Moore but I cant see anyone wanting Hayes at the moment, including Vegas.
