Speculative on my part but I love hockey

Description
DO NOT focus on salaries or term. My focus was on who I see on the team in 2 years from now. Seattle took one of the following Tatar, Danault, Chiarot or Armia. Habs included picks IF need be. The other 3 walked or were traded for picks. I had a real hard time filling out the 4th line, because Armia would not want to stay for 4th line and you do not pay $3M and place him on 4th line. Kind of the same thing with Lehky. I just think the top 9 are better offensively. Finally as for who plays with who, that is up to coach to decide or you guys to debate! But I would like a bigger guy that enjoys hitting on 4th line. Finally I did not focus on re-signing the Laval roster.

bergevin has given such bad contracts that it makes it almost impossible for mtl to compete for a cup. The fact that danault rejected the 5M x 5 years (apparently) is a lifesaver for them imo. You had 5M for Danault on this team and they don,t have the money and thats when suzuki and romanov are taking a paycut. I like gallagher a lot, but that contract is so bad

I agree, I am happy the Danault contract was rejected if in fact that is the truth. The Gally contract is for years gone by. I think he will be good for another several years but the last 2 to 3 years are going to be tough.

mtl need to fire bergevin imo if they don't make the playoffs this yeat. A change needs to be made everybody was praising him at the starrt of the season but right now the contracts he gave out are way to expensive for the longterm. Mtl needs to trade guys like price gallagher and weber to make place for the youngs guys and make a proper rebuild. He sabotaged the future of the team with how badly the money was spent.

I have a different take on this. I was yelling loudly to fire Bergevin from 2012 to 2017. His last few drafts, trades and signings have been good. To add to that MTL is one of the few teams with a boat load of draft picks. The Weber trade was one that needed to be done for two reasons. PK was good on the ice but real bad in the dressing room and the team lacked steady leadership. So that trade I have liked from the get go. Plus Webers last three years, is only one million per season. Yes I am aware of the cap hit. Gally's contract, again, he performed for many years on a subpar deal. I think Gally is still good for another 3 to 4 years. If you put Gally's goals over an 82 game season, he is on par for 29 goals. Still very good. As for Price's contract, yes it was a little high. Probably should have been $8.5 to $9.5 max, but this was before covid and flat cap. American TV revenues were climbing, plus 2 teams (Vegas & Seattle) added, which the teams get a divided portion of that and things were looking good.

There are plenty of good prospects coming and extra draft picks that he can push those out to 2023. So MTL if you compare to other teams are not sitting too badly.
