Vancouver doesn't really have any use for short term vets like Klein or Pirri. They aren't going anywhere this year.

Tanev has three full years after this year on a good contract which is kinda unique Trouble with the Rangers lineup (they traded away so many draft picks) is that they don't have any real prospects that a rebuilding team would desire.
You would think the Canucks (in a full rebuild) would be looking for at least two NHL ready good prospects and more for Tanev

Only issue I have with this trade is the pick. The draft pool for next year seems pretty shallow, but I'd still like to pick someone in the first round...

If you don't like this trade, then yes you have an issue.


We're taking in more cap than they're getting in return. A 1st round pick shouldn't be what sweetens the deal, a 2nd rounder at highest.
