MTL playoff push?

Created by: Vladinator

Description
Just throwing this out there. Honestly have no idea if it's realistic or even close to it. MTL probably wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole.

Problem is our cap. I'd probably do it if it weren't for us already being to close to the cap as is.cap dollars would have to be evened out both ways for MTL to do it.

Nielsen isn't waiving his NMC for Montreal after just signing him, Detroit gives up the best pieces here for Montreal crap no thanks.

It's pretty close, I think you guys could make it work with some minor roster moves. But with Sergachev almost ready you may want to think about trading Emelin or Petry anyways.

Here we go again with this troll...
Nielsen probably wants a chance to win - that's not happening anytime soon in Detroit. Tatar will most likely be gone next year like it or not. And Green is one of our only other pieces with any value, so trade him for value back. Beaulieu and Scherbak aren't crap.

Some one with only 38 post calling me a troll that's a laugh, And if you think after only one season that Nielsen would bail for a cup then you don't know Nielsen Detroit definitely give up the best pieces here for scraps. Plekaneck is a waste no need for Beaulieu isn't a need the only good piece here is Scherbak. Plekanec and Desharnais are crap Beaulieu isn't a need the only piece decent coming back is Scherbak not enough here for this deal and weren't retaining on Tatar period.

Yes, I know Nielsen quite well actually, we hang out all the time. His favorite color is magenta, he loves to eat coney dogs, and he likes long walks on the beach. But enough about us, how do you know him?

Who cares bottom line is Detroit isn't helping Montreal win a cup any time soon at least not for these pieces.

Larkinking; Desharnais and Plekanec contracts are up after this year and next year respectfully. Nielsen not until 2022-23. It wouldn't matter if DD and Plek are crap, it frees up a ton of money and allows us to rebuild sooner. And again, Tatar most likely wont be resigning with us after this year so we should trade him. And why in the world do you think it would be a big deal for us retain on his salary - it's just for the rest of this year! No, Beaulieu is not a star Dman, but he isn't crap either... certainly an upgrade from what we have. And his contract is up after this year too, so if we don't want him we let him walk or flip him for picks. This is my last response to you. You aren't worth my keystrokes.

It is actually not that far off money wise for Montreal, a couple of picks and say McCarron and I am sold.

I created this trade from the MTL perspective and it actually does fit for the Habs. I added a 2nd and a 3rd plus McCarron to see what it would look like. If Detroit would be willing to retain 1M on Neilsen's contract instead of Tatar's, I would make this trade. Also one component that would need to be clarified too is if Green can play the left side. If not then I'm not sure this trade works. We really need a quality LH dman. We're pretty set on the right side as is.
