Offseason

Created by: DirtyRebound
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2017
Published: Jan. 11, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Couple of predictions :
1) Senyshyn is a great goal scorer and should be given a shot in the NHL at some point next season.
2) Debrusk will for sure be in Boston for the start of the season next year. He's quickly moved his was up the P-Bruins depth chart to the top.
3) They'll need to unload salary and it will be a RHD that goes. If there's no takers, one will be bought out.
4) Less of a prediction but more of a want. Bruins could pursue Karl Alzner and bring him in to be the eventual Chara replacement and solidify the defense core.
5) Bruins need to do what it takes to get a deal done with Anders Bjork. When watching his games, there usually isn't a more electrifying player on the ice. He's a player they can't let slip to free agency.
6) If this all were to occur, there would be little cap room. That's a given. But with all the core players signed for at least another two years and Chara coming off the books the next year, it works in the long run.

The cap with the salaries you took here shouldn't be as tight as it looks. If the cap goes up the 5% as I believe it should per the CBA, you get about 76mil for 17-18.

Then, rather than buying out mcquaid, you leave him and kevan Miller open for the expansion, protect Chara, Krug, and Colin and you can free up another 2.5mil.

Khudobin and Hayes I also feel like you could dump on teams. Hayes has some upside, with a team willing to take the risk of him finding his hockey legs again. And khudobin you might be able to give to a team who needs a draft eligible goalie prior to the draft.
That would save you the few unnecessary cap hits here.

Other than that I like the look of this team. Maybe, rather than having beleskey on the 4th, you look to trade him at the rookie draft for a pick or two, then you bring up cehlarik (don't know the spelling) or even Gabrielle/bjork.

Yea I agree with you that it would be a major advantage if someone picks up those contracts in the expansion. This is more so an outlook if no teams want to pick up their contracts. I see vegas signing Moore before the expansion draft though. Kind of like Ray Ferraro joining the Thrashers in their first season.

Yeah I could see that. I feel the younger d guys, McQuaid in particular, could bring a solid physical veteran presence that vegas might like.

And I'm excited about where this team will be in a few years. Lots of young talent on both sides of the puck close to the big leagues. Besides Pasta and then Vatrano the year after, we shouldn't have too many multi million dollar contracts dished out until 2019 either.
