Scoring Boost

Description
Toronto-Calgary Trade: I am not in any way saying Benett won't be a good player.... Because be already is one.. I just don't see him fitting with the Flames due to our logjam in center, and I feel like the team won't be impacted that much with his departure, because we can get a lot back if we trade him...

Leafs get Benny and Chaisson, both offensively talented (Benny to a MUCH higher extent). Both play with a physical edge, and are used in both PP and PK...

Flames get Brown, who plays RW (A team weakness) he's very good offensively and can fit right in with Janko... Flames also get Corrado who has bottom pairing potential, along with a 2nd and 4th rnd pick

Lmao. SB84 deleted his embarrassing comment (that s 7 paragraphs Long btw) he was complaining about how I traded Elliot twice, and about why I would trade a "fan favorite" like Bouma. And how we should not trade Brow because he's much better than Nyquist and how Versteeg couldn't even earn a contract with the oilers (news flash: he did) Oh, and he kept his 1 star rating for this post...

Edit: just checked out one of his armchair gm teams... Had a 1.1 rating.. 11 people voted..

It got deleted fyi. Your comments are false, I was not saying Brouwer was "much better" than Nyquist and I certainly did not ask why you would trade Bouma only because he is a fan favourite. Nyquist is not a top line forward and Howards contract is absolutely horrible. If the wings are going to rid themselves of that contract they are going to have to give up a substantial incentive for anyone to take it, i.e. see Chicago's trade to Carolina involving teravainen. Too many quality assets going DET's way.

Versteeg never signed anything more than a PTO with EDM. Either way, it's not even close to enough for COL as they have stated they are looking for a blue chip defensive prospect or a young D man with 1st line potential, a 1st and a prospect. Swing and a miss with that proposal.

As a fan of the Flames who lives in Calgary, I just listened to Trelivings interview on the Fan960 and he stated that Bennett is not going anywhere and they are very confident he will be a scoring centre for the team so I am puzzled as to why you think they would trade him for a "scoring boost" when Brown has scored 11g,9a and Bennett has 9g,9a when many have considered this as a positive year for Brown and a down year for Bennett. Long term, and short term, this does not make sense for the Flames. The only trade that is close value-wise is Wideman, retained, for a 3rd and a 6th, even though Florida is not in any position to be giving up any assets for a rental when they aren't going to make the playoffs...

Plain and simple Bennett's floor is Brown's ceiling and I love Brown's game. Beaulieu is 10 years younger, cost controlled, playing 20+ a night. Col also won't be taking spare parts and a 1st for Landy despite his awful year. Agreed we have little depth on the right side so the detroit deal is interesting with Nyquist included if Detroit would go for it (unlikely). Personally I wouldn't go with Howard and Johnson as our goalie solution but he's having a great year.
