If Leafs Lose the Series

Created by: NazemKadri43
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2021
Published: May 22, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Keefe will be fired. He is getting outworked by an AHL coach

2) Nothing happens to management. I love Dubas and Shanny, but they change the way they see the game. If the Leafs lose, they will be eliminated in the 1st round by four heavy defensive, hard hitting teams. Puck possession doesn't get you anywhere in the playoffs

2) One of Nylander and Marner will be traded. I'm going with Nylander since his contract is the easiest to move. I won't trade Nylander in this ACGM since I'm not allowed and there is a strong protection over him (not sure why)

3) Rielly and Andersen are gone. All depth pieces in Mikheyev, Holl, Engvall, and Kerfoot are also gone

4) Leafs build how the Habs built with playoff, cup champion players. You bring in guys like Blake Coleman, Barclay Goodrow, David Savard, Nick Foligno, Riley Nash.

I think trading Nylander is not ideal. Nylander was our best forward last night and he becomes a completely different player in the playoffs, and I like Playoff Nylander

A prospect or someone who can fill his role, fairly young, but with a cheaper cap hit. I remember when I used to do Nylander for Josh Anderson, but everyone laughed at me and I got in trouble for "trolling"

Remember, Elliotte Friedman said that if the Leafs don't get where they want to be, one of the big four is gone. Matthews and Tavares are out of the discussion, contract wise, and why would they move from them. Could also be Rielly, but he wasn't in the discussion at that time

imo, if we're talking about a locker room shakeup, rielly would be gone before nylander.

Nylander or Marner are gone if the Leafs don't have post season success, according to Friedman

Not saying you are wrong, just never heard about that, thought that would be bigger news.

Sorry for the late reply. I can't find the article, but legorocks took a screenshot and discussed it in his video. Elliotte Friedman said this during the offseason, and the news was big during the offseason. Obviously it's not talked about anymore considering how far we are from the offseason

Ohhh, I thought this was more recent. Makes sense why I hadn't heard about it that much.

All good. I think it could become a big topic if the Habs pull the huge upset on the Leafs. The news came right off the oven when the CBJ beat the Leafs

I think if they do lose, it might become a big topic, yes. Wouldn't be too suprised to see one of Rielly or Nylander gone to shake up the core.

Marner won't be going anywhere though after the season he just had, unless he's bringing back someone like McDavid.

Even if the Leafs wanted to move Marner, I don't think they can. His contract is way too much for a team to take

That's kind of like saying nobody is going to want Eichel because of his 10 mil contract.
Teams are still going to be interested in a top 6-7 winger in the league, regardless of how much he is payed. Teams would find ways to dump cap if they wanted Marner.

Of course Marner isn't going anywhere, so it doesn't really matter.
