I think we should at least add one top C. If we can get an established guy like Eichel, Barkov, Pettersson, that would be great. But those teams will not move them easily. We have so many prospects and picks that we should be bundling them together for a young centre like Perfetti or Beniers.

I completely I agree but I think there are better options in 2022 and we should hold on one more year before targeting someone

The problem with that is if any of our prospects lose value, or our picks are later (hopefully they are later), and those young C's get more valuable.

Winnipeg would move Perfetti for Strome and prospects now. Florida may be under pressure to sign Barkov, so maybe Lundell becomes available. I'd like at least one guy in the waiting.

I'd protect Gaut and let Seattle pick from the remaining crumbs...maybe then they pick Blackwell and maybe they don't- in any case it doesn't matter...we know what Blackwell is: a journeyman 4th liner...maybe a bottom 6 guy...who can fill in on occasion in the top 6. For a team looking to get bigger and tougher to play against, Gaut is still an unknown commodity...but what we do know is that he's got size and speed...maybe if the next head coach has a viable "O" and "D" plan then Gaut can harness his given "gifts" to develop into a strong bottom or mid 6 presence...if he does then it's a huge win. If he doesn't- then for the cost of possibly losing Blackwell, it's worth the risk.

I'm not saying you don't explore your options, you absolutely should, and if you get offered one of those deals you take it but I have a feeling it might be next year Drury goes for that

Totally fair argument I didn't put too much thought into Seattle tbh

I'll make sure to tag you, I think I'm gonna do Eichel because I see him as the most available (and his price is at an all-time low)

Perfetti and Lundell are both in a group of young high end C prospects...which also includes Newhook, Turcotte, Kupari, Madden (damn LA in a good place), Krebs...just to name a few- without mentioning absolutely untouchables like Byfield, Zegras, Cozens, etc. To acquire any of these guys would require WAY more than Strome plus a prospect. Even mentioning a guy like Kuznetinov makes Wild fans crazy- especially considering what the team gave up to move up and draft him. Point is- you either draft your young future 1Cs...or be prepared to part with the likes of Kakko, LaF, or Fox to get them a year or so after draft when they're developing as expected.

Laf and Fox have more value than any of those centers you just named, and its Khusnutdinov*

you're right about that...but the point is to pry any of those centers you'd have to blow them away with an offer...and thanks for the correct spelling on Khus...knew I was wrong as I typed...LOL

Thats why I think targeting Eichel would be smart with his value at an all time low
