1. Nobody seems to know what Nugent-Hopkins next contract should look like. He is part of "the core", but his even-strength scoring is abysmal. He plays over 20 minutes a night in all situations, but the special teams would not be significantly worse if Puljujarvi played PP and Haas played PK. He would be a second line winger or a third line center on a Stanley Cup winning team.

2. Hot take: Klefbom is not coming back. He needs to focus on being healthy enough to play with his kids, much less play professional hockey.

3. In June 2022, Nurse, Bear and Puljujarvi have their contracts expire. The Turris contract and the Koskinen retained salary will be off the books by then. If you buyout Neal at this time, then you should have enough room to resign all three.

4. Oilers' young players and prospects aren't as good and NHL ready as Oilers' fans think. Except Holloway. He will save us... eventually.
