The '23 2nd Rounder becomes a 1st Rounder IF Jones re-signs OR the Lightning win the cup in 2022.

no way tampa is doing anything for next yr they have no cap space....the league already knows how they violate the ltir so why do them a favour let them figure how they hold the cap space next season with these so called fake injuries...lol

I totally agree, why should any team be doing Tampa a favor. (?) 100% But it still amazes me every year how Tampa and Vegas manage to land (or get close to landing) the big fish via trade or free agency and still make the money work somehow. It seems everybody and their dog has made their make-believe trade pitches for Seth Jones over the last 24 hours, so I just figured I'd throw one in that would be very unexpected . . . but probably not really a surprise to anyone.

Agreed, Tampa is likely not gonna get away with burying a contract (LTIR) for an entire season again, but who doesn't think that maybe Brisebois' old buddy Yzerman (Detroit) might not want to swing something that is mutually beneficial. And would anyone be shocked if Tampa dealt with Seattle to shed some serious $$$$, also. (?) Don't get me wrong, it will cost them. Tampa's depth is undoubtedly going to take a serious hit this off-season (and don't even get me started on their prospect pool!) It's not out of the realm of possibility that Tampa Bay sheds 2-3 bigger contracts, but don't be surprised if they add a big name (like Jones) with that new found caps space and fill out the rest of the roster with depth players who are happy to play for a winner in a great place to live, etc.
