    No I don't really think Buffalo would trade in conference let alone division. But if offered Marner? Idk if any other team offers anybody close. Rielly included as incentive. And to change up leadership group. He played well against Montreal but is terrible defensively. I still think Leafs have to add something else to make realistic. Maybe a future first? Or liljegren or a recent top pick not named sandin or Robertson?

    i like the quality vs quantity aspect of this trade, but it's just tough to trade high quality players inside the division.

    I agree. Plus rielly has a 10 team no trade list. Buffalo sure to be on it I'd guess. But I think it would be a pretty fair trade if not for those issues.

    4th in the league in points? Ya, I watched. Choked hard in the playoffs, but that's not an issue in Buffalo.

    I would say the salary cap has a lot to do with why this would not make sense for Buffalo. Marner makes more than Eichel does and he’s not as good. Rielly is a fine player, but he also has a big contract. When you consider that Buffalo needs to pay Dahlin this year adding that much payroll doesn’t make a lot of sense.

    I believe Buffalo has a ton of cap space. Dahlin will not get a big deal. Need a goalie. But have like 30 million in space to sign 8-10 guys. Very few big name UFAs out there, and the biggest Hall certainly won't be back.

    Over 7 or 8 years where front loaded as much as possible? Maybe. I doubt he gets 5x5 on open market. But could easily add 1 aav to that and still works.
