What on earth is that Florida trade?

Also, you’re overpaying Foligno, Bogosian, Galchenyuk, and Simmonds, and underpaying Hyman. Also Spezza is going to take league minimum again if he wants to return.

Foligno was making 5.5 last year and is still a very good player but was playing through a injury. Not overpaying for bogo simmonds or galc because we’re getting 2 year term with them. And spezza was one of our best players so it’s just out of respect and fairness to pay him at least 1 mill for 2 years as well. Also hyman isn’t going to get much more in a flat cap era.

he signed that when he was 27 years old in the middle of a 30 goal 70 point season lol. he's basically a 3rd line grinder who's above average skill wise, but also aging and declining rapidly with a laundry list of injuries to his name

I'd maybe keep him around for like <$1.5M if he was healthy, but I'd prob rather get somebody younger/healthier
Kotkaniemi15 and DartGuy86 liked this.

Having those 3 players on 2 year term isn’t a good thing for Toronto. If anything the term would bring the AAV down more.

And just because Foligno was overpaid on his previous deal doesn’t mean you should overpay him again. He’s a consistent 30 point 3rd liner, nothing more, nothing less. His current contract was signed after he was nearly a point per game in the previous season. He won’t make more than $2.5 million on his next deal.

Foligno was one of the most disappointing parts of this season. I was really excited when the Leafs made that trade.
