The odds seem to suggest Turris will not be able to redeem himself next season, but if he wants to to try there is no reason not to give him the opportunity during training camp. If he can't make the team, he can be placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment. There is a very slim chance another team will claim him, in which case Edmonton will no longer hold his contract and the salary implications. Its more likely he would clear waivers, and then he can be assigned to Bakersfield. Once paced with the Condors, Edmonton will carry a $525,000 cap hit. When the season is over, the contract expires and Turris and the Oilers can go their separate ways. It doesn't make sense to buy Turris out.
It seems apparent that Hyman replaces RNH, Armia replaces Chiasson, and Galchenyuk and Benson replace Ennis, Nygard, Neal, and Shore. Personally, don't feel the roster improves with those changes, at least not as much as it could improve with perhaps some different choices. The deployment of defensemen might work, but it looks less than idea.
