Additional Details:

Chris Tierney is a relatively young centre, perfectly capable 2-way middle-six rental on an appropriate deal.

Vegas is getting someone who can take face-offs and kill penalties at under 2 million or 50% retention.

If Vegas wants to dump a bit of salary, we can make it work.

Tierney's head coach in San Jose was Pete DeBoer.

Both Tierney and DeBoer went to the Cup Final together in 2016.

If Coach DeBoer explained to you who Chris Tierney is after Vegas gets him, you would probably fall in love with him.

Tierney is either getting exposed for the expansion or will be protected and then traded afterwards.

Vegas gets a good, quality player for cheap next season and Ottawa gets a draft pick.

An idea worth considering :)

Fixed

In some drafts, a 3rd + a 5th = a 2nd and Vegas' 2nd is going to be really low next year.

So, it makes no difference.

I wonder if Vegas is going to get inundated with calls from GM's with the exact same thinking...."get something from VGK instead of nothing from Seattle". If that's the case, the returns may not be all that good since VGK will be able to be picky. The problem is that VGK doesn't need a massive overhaul so these same GM's won't have a very accommodating dance partner. AND, VGK would rather move money out than add money so that complicates things even further.

But I don't disagree with you that Tierney is an asset and he's worth getting something decent in return....from whoever that may be. Edmonton maybe?
