Why wouldn’t he? He’s arguably one of the best wingers in the NHL today. Maybe even the best. Nikita Kucherov, Mark Stone, David Pastrnak, Artemi Panarin, Jonathan Huberdeau etc are all the ones you can argue that they are the best of the best. Players are getting paid a lot now…. It would only make sense if he got that much.

Kucherov and Stone are both signed for 9.5m aav and signed their contracts pre flat cap. Pasta has said that he will take less on his contract, and Panarin got paid so much because he was on the open market and joined a rebuilding team.

Pastrnak may take a bit of a discount, but he will not get below 10M in my opinion. He’s still very young and just getting better. It doesn’t matter if it is a open market, or flat cap if you are one of the best.

I am not sure if you have noticed, but when was the last time the Bruins paid someone over 7.5 aav. Plus All of those players bring more to the table IMO than Pasta. I would also pay Marchand more than Pasta (in their primes)

Well that’s because they paid their players before they became really good haha. Before they were worth a huge contract. All of those players do not bring more to the table than Pastrnak. They are all pretty close in my opinion.
