If Nashville really wanted to move him and were willing to retain like $1.5M, they might actually be able to get a quality return for him.</div></div>
he was elite a couple of seasons ago, but his advanced number sucked, and he took a pretty big step back this year, I probably did over value his cap dump, but if they take on his 3x$8mil they shouldn't be giving up anything of value.

If you plan on buying out someone with 4 years left on his deal, be my guest. This still leaves you with 7 mil in cap space, while still needing a backup goalie, third pairing d man, 5 bottom 6 forwards and extra roster players.

Haven't really followed him that much, just from places I've heard he could be in the NHL next year, but I would expect the hawks to replace him with Söderblom and sign a veteran like Aaron Dell to be in the org as well.

It's not that simple... your'e RFA priority #1 is miller, and if you are able to get him and Laf both at 4.2 that leaves NYR at 3.3 mil in cap space, and you would still need a backup goalie a third pairing d man 3 more forwards as well as room for extra roster players. If NYR does match, I expect them to try and trade him to get more value than the 2024 2nd.

Blackhawks Draft Strategy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>I think the Hawks need to capitalize on a team looking to shake up their roster and get a established, young NHLer. The writing is on the wall for Girard in Colorado, wonder what the price would be but at only 24 years old he'd be a great add. Boeser is another buy low candidate. Who knows what other teams will have to do to be cap compliant. This is the first offseason in the past 8 years worth being excited over in Chicago. There's so many different directions they can go with the cap space and roster spots they have. They definitely have more holes than they can fill in one year, but it's going to be a much quicker rebuild now.
I agree with not trading the 1st. I'd consider moving the 2nds if it means a buy low asset in return.</div></div>
How about Lafrenière? sign him for $4.2 mil AAV and the compensation is a 2024 2nd + the Rangers don't really have the cap space to match.

You can get so much more than a 3rd to take on JVR's contract by itself. Adding JG makes it worth a mid 1st imo.

Marchment and Nichushkin are both getting better deals than that. Realistically leafs are priced out unless they trade Nylander.

1 year pick accumulation and then moving up in draft
Toronto has already had Reimer, theyre not gonna give up a first to get him back. Boston has spent enough cap space on depth forwards, Bonino is not going there. a mid second and third round pick doesnt move you up from 25 to 12.

Blake Wheeler isn't waiving his NTC to go to Arizona. Even if he did the Coyotes would decline, they can get a better package and they definitely don't want to trade him to a team in the central. Also Copp seemed to have a lot of contract problems in WPG so I don't see him going back there.

I dont think this team has the upside of the 2015/16 team tho. Trocheck isn't on Bergeron's level and Marchand is starting to show his age. Only core player on this team is McAvoy, the rest are role players.

He is genuinely a 5.5m-6.5m valued piece. So why would he take 7.5 this year just to maybe have to sign a contract at like 5.5m going forward? Why wouldn't he take 19m now instead of 7.5 and then who knows what?</div></div>
He's probably gonna bet on himself, professionals like Boeser know they didnt play to theyre full potential. He's probably gonna look at the offers on the table and say "i'll take 7.5 for 1 year, and next year i'll prove i'm worth more money"

Yes he can accept lower money, but why would he? if the canucks want to keep his RFA rights they have to offer him $7.5 mil, so for a three year deal he would probably just take the higher value for one year.

This is a very confusing offseason. Are the Bruins trying to contend or rebuild? Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Also I doubt Dallas gives up a 1st in that trade.

Just an FYI Boeser's Qualifying Offer this offseason is $7.5 million, so any deal with him has to be at least that, especially if its a short term deal
