Blake Wheeler isn't waiving his NTC to go to Arizona. Even if he did the Coyotes would decline, they can get a better package and they definitely don't want to trade him to a team in the central. Also Copp seemed to have a lot of contract problems in WPG so I don't see him going back there.

In addition to what @Jamesy said. The Jets should not be spending assets to acquire another LD. The Jets have enough LD in house that need a spot.

And I doubt Schmidt would waive as well.

The Arizona deal doesn’t make a ton of sense for either sides. The jets do not need another LHD, Arizona is likely looking for a better prospect than Heinola and there’s no reason for them to take on Schmidt or wheeler. Not to mention that neither Schmidt nor wheeler waive for Arizona.

I think Schmidt could be moved, just not sure where and for what. Wheeler is likely not going anywhere due to his contract and NTC. I wouldn’t be opposed to using Heinola and that 1st to trade up in the draft, even if it costs more than that. I’d love to get Nichuskin, but not sure he’d sign in Winnipeg. After the two sets of arbitration with Copp I’m not too sure how that relationship is holding up. I knew they had spoken about long term deals before the jets acquired Schmidt and Dillon so maybe there’s a fit there.
