No need to pay Seattle. Let them take whoever they want of Howden, Gauthier, Hajek or Rooney.

He sounds like he actually wants to try with Gauthier so the 4th is just to make seattle take Howden, if thats not the case Seattle takes Gauthier, we move Blackwell to 4RW and just get any guy for 4LW

I took it the other way in that if you don't play a 200 foot game, you won't play which is currently what's holding Gauthier back (and David Quinn).

Gauthier hasn't been bad defensively IMO but he has size which Gallant loves and Quinn never really played him enough to utilize

True that he has the size and speed that Turk likes but i see him as a waste on the 4th line with his potential. Agreed that he never played enough under Quinn.

As the season moves on he could move up if we have injuries, also Turk has a history of playing his bottom 6 a healthy amount, the opposite of Quinn

imo we shouldnt expose Gauthier (a cost controlled, RFA, with some decent potential(held back by lack of playing time(quinn))) for blackwell or howden. howden hasnt shown any form of development or nhl ability and blackwell had one decent season and is a ufa next year.

Maybe we protect Gauthier and pay them to not take Blackwell seeing as that helps us meet our 2 forward quota
