Wanted to try a few things out with the Oilers.

Caleb lost to Sea. Bought out Neil, but decided to eat the last year on Kap.

Let Barrie and RNH walk.

Resign Larsson, solid top 6 d. Tough to replace. Oleksiak would be a good addition to the bottom pair, providing a veteran presence at reasonable cap hit to develop Bouchard and Bear.

I think Andersson might be available on a 2-year deal, I pegged 4M per. There are lots of goalies hitting the market, some won’t get paid what they hope to make.

Up front is the challenge. I think Saad would be a great fit in the top 6...Armia has speed, size and some skill, can kill penalties and play wing on any line.

I’m just not crazy about any of the other UFA options for the top 9, and think the Oilers would be better off with another top 6 winger, moving Armia or Kailer down to the 3rd line... who could that be. $3.8M of cap space, a Koskinen buyout would take that to $5M... I think a trade makes a ton of sense, but who??? And what assets to give up? Draft picks, but is a Bouchard or Broberg worth a top 6 winger on a good contract??? I think yes...
