No to Petry trade Montreal needs Petry more. Also No to resigning Staal or signing Getzlaf. Hamilton isn't signing that low and likely passes on Montreal even if he did as Toronto born players usually pass on Habs, Bruins and Sens

We do need offense but Hamilton (341 pts) doesn't provide much more than Petry (295 pts) and is at a higher cap hit in slightly less games. The difference isn't worth the extra cap hit at least IMO

hamilton has a much hugher offensive cielieng then petry. it also allows us to get schmidt who provides more offense than chirot can can move the puck. same for hamilton. we need big QB's like him. risto on the 3rd pair levels it out

Its not the worst idea of signing Hamilton and trading Petry but you have is value way wromg. He could have gotten a first, second and good prospect last year and now his value has only gone up. And the habs don't need a LD, they need a RD. All their top defensive prospects shoot left. They need someone ready at RD to replace as soon as he falls off the cliff, which is any year now

no. habs need LHD help RIGHT NOW. They also need offense from the back. petry is great, but hamilton risto and schmidt is an upgrade over petry chiarot and gustavsson. thats how i see it

If you think they need LD asap then clearly you don't understand this leauge imo. Currently they have two right handed RD, and one of the two could fall off a cliff or retire any year now. You literallty just signed Hamilton and Risto and you think RD isnt the bigger need? Goood RDs are very hard to find fyi. And for LD the have Guhle, Norlinder, Harris, Struble and thats not including Romanov who will be a LD. Plus Chiarot and Edmunston have proved they are legit top 4 LD in the playoffs. There is a reason the rumour is out there that the habs are looking for a RD at the draft

they're trying to win next year. weber is showing no signs of falling off a cliff. petry is still in his prime. nordlinder, harris, guhle won't be here for another 2-3 years minimum and maybe another 2-3 years will they make an actual impact.

If they're trying to win so hard why did you just gut the defense that got them there? And trading Petry for pennies on the dollar is helping how? Schmidt is a downgrade from Chiarot btw

the defense has changed. right now its big and heavy with no offense. now its big and heavy with offense. schmidt is an upgrade over chiarot and he provides weber with a puck mover. the forwards need puck movers to support them. we need puck movers on the pp. we have plenty of shooters.

Have you watched Schmidt play recently? And you still didn't explain why you essentially have Petry away

If you're trading away Petry you get a deal way way better than this.

Maybe? Lol Schmidt is borderline a cap dump. Petry was considered a norris contender for the first half of the year lol.
