Not sure how Avalanche pay for Kopitar and MacKinnon, and Kings not getting enough for Anze.

Kopitar has 1 year more then MacKinnon and the Avalanche have lots of cap room and they need a guy like Kopitar with cup winning experience and 2 way play to take the next step to get to a cup final.
Kopitar doesn’t have the value you think on a $10 Million cap hit, Avalanche are one of the few teams that can take on a $10 Million cap hit no problem.
Plus Girard is a good young defenseman at cheap cap hit of $5 Million for 6 more years that is only getting better each season

Except the Avalanche do not have a lot of cap space as they need to sign Grubauer, Landeskog and Makar. They already cannot afford to keep Saad.

yes they have $25 Million free this offseason to resign Landeskog, Makar, Jost and Saad and Grubauer if they want to but maybe they target different players in free agency, maybe they resign them but there a lot of goalies in free agency or available in a trade and that is not including if they lose Kadri or Graves getting selected in the expansion draft which is $3 Million and $4 Million cap hit of the books.

Kopitar has a full NMC. He will never leave LA unless it's UFA. Plus, LA nowhere near getting value in any return for Kopitar.
