He won’t be. What is the impetus in giving SEA 72 hours to exclusively negotiate with him, where COL can’t even make a counter offer in the window? To protect Joonas Donskoi? I mean bro not to call you out, but you were insanely wrong about your initial post protecting 5 dman, then it is well they would leave Kadri exposed, and lastly you don’t even understand what the exclusive negotiating period is. You do understand SEA can give 8yr contracts to any UFA, and literally has $81.5M in cap space? Why borrow problems?

And…Landeskog is exposed.

Nah you were more right, I’m big enough of a man to admit it. But I am literally freaking floored he is asking for that kind of money. I’m all for players getting every dollar they can, but giving him that kind of money is insane. Away from MacKinnon he is a really good 60pt forward.

I was talking about how I was wrong about Graves and leaving kadri exposed. And also they did protect grubauer who’s a UFA so I’m a little surprised by that too. But agreed, Landeskog asking Colorado for 9mil seems insane. That’s gotta be a smokescreen of some sort but I don’t think Colorado gives that to him if it’s real.

Yeah but they traded Graves, so that’s kinda a mulligan. Unless Sakic AND Landy are playing 4D chess together to get teams like STL to do stupid things there is no way the Avs will give him that. They reportedly offered Panarin $12M but wouldn’t move off of 4years.

True about Graves, think that was a very good deal for them though. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see with Landeskog. Not only would it be stupid for someone to pay him 9mil, I still just can’t see him turning down 7mil from Colorado. I wouldn’t put it past Sakic to use this as a major smokescreen though. Get Landeskog on other team’s radars just to re-sign him just before free agency opens and mess up others’ plans.

I will say this though, the main reason I was so adamant in thinking Landeskog would be unprotected as a UFA is because I was certain they had already agreed to a deal under the table and were just waiting to make it official until after the draft. When I heard they were far apart in negotiations I then began to think they might protect him.

My mind is still blown, I wasn’t surprised when it was reported they were far apart absolutely knew that was going to happen when RNH signed his deal but that far apart. I mean you could get like Saad AND Coleman for $9M, hell you could start playing with the idea of trading for Eichel.
