Description

I genuinely have no idea what OELs value is or if it is even positive at this point. Hes definitely overpaid and the term is too long so a bunch of cap would probably have to go the other way. Neal and Kassian put together have roughly the same cap hit as OEL but cost about 20M less than OEL in real salary over the course of their contracts. I have EDM giving up a 1st and 3rd as well since OEL is definitely a better player than both guys going back to ARZ

This would only make sense for EDM positionally if Klefbom cannot return and if another LHD like Jones is also gone. Plus they would have to not trade for Keith

Also not sure about Tarasenkos value. Ive seen a wide range of valuations for him in other posts and Im not really up to date on his injury/surgery status so I went with this for now

Not sure what OEL value is either but I feel like EDM would have to offer a little bit more, Maybe a mid tier prospect? I don't know tho

Honestly agree. OEL's contract length makes it concerning and really hard to value.

Way too many picks traded. That’s not the way to build a cup contender year after year. Look at Tampa. If you want a franchise that will compete for a cup or a long playoff run for multiple years in a row you draft and develop.

I agree with the idea of drafting and developing though, I just think EDM has done that with McDavid, Drai, etc and they need more depth now vs waiting 3-4 years for prospects to develop. By the time the guys EDM would have drafted in the 2021-2023 drafts would be ready then McDavid and Drais contracts would be almost over

Maybe you're right but according to Friedman

Friedman on 31 Thoughts says it's not about which team Ekman-Larsson is willing to go to, it's about who is willing to make a deal. EF heard his exit interview was as brief as brief could get, basically it's time to go.I guess this means OEL will go anywhere. #Yotes

I think OEL might've changed his mind about EDM

Not sure about Tarasenko but maybe he would be interested if they promised him a spot on McDavids wing
