Wings aren't going to trade Stecher, like the deal without him.

Respectfully the return for kuznetsov is not worth the 2 mil in salary retention alone

Lol yeah his value is really difficult to gauge. I knew I’d get a comment or 2 on that. What would you have in a Kuznetsov deal?

Agreed, he’s a great asset. My only thought was that he has 1 year left and he won’t fit the age group when the wings intend to contend

Yeah they can maybe get a 2nd for him at the deadline. Wings would want 30th overall at least just to take Byron contract. Need a 2nd added if you want Stecher going back

For a kuznetsov trade to be worth it for the caps they would need either complete futures with no retention so they could spend the money on someone like hamilton or someone who could plausibly play 2c. Obviously it is understandable that not many teams would give those up for kuzy which is why i think no trade will happen ultimately. I think the most likely trade is something like kuzy for monahan straight up where two teams that at least are perceived as needing to shake up their cores make a swap with one another.

The habs don't really have that guy -- i think the closest would honestly be kotkaniemi. As for straight futures, the value you have is probably a tiny bit low, i.e. one first instead of a second and fourth, but only if there is no salary retention. It cost the caps basically a first rounder to dump 2.75 x 3 worth of cap in Panik at the deadline which is equivalent to what the caps would retain in this scenario.

*Edit*
Forgot to mention that I dont really know anything about Struble and Poehling but from looking at hockeyreference for 30 seconds they both seem like B level prospects?

Thanks for the feedback! I think the habs will target a high-end left handed forward, maybe Kuzy just isn’t the guy
