What exactly do you mean by "The price to not take Price is too high"?

So, instead of getting a 34 year old who's signed at $10.5 mil for the next 5 years, they get someone else that doesn't cost that?

Yeah, and I get that, IMO though, I just think it's a dumb Francis decsion if he does it. Lots of players out there that could potentially be marketed that way.

Apparently Ron Francis’s asking price to not select Giordano is a 1st. So I don’t think Montreal gives up a first+ to not select him.

If I was Montreal, I'd be happy as a pig in $hit if they took him...

Same with me. If your looking at this in a business standpoint. Seattle would have to take him and trade him for a surplus of picks and prospects and retain 50%. Top 10 goalie. At 5.25/year. Someone will bite when he’s healthy.

*Is he a top 10 goalie though?*

I get it, guy had an outstanding run through 3 rounds of the playoffs. Is that a big enough sample size to negate his past 2 regular seasons (We'll just throw the finals out completely, given that Tampa >>>> Anybody else.

And I absolutely get it...He's a huge name, and his playoff run was outstanding. And yes, if team Canada was in action, he'd absolutely be the one getting the call. I just don't know if I could look past those below league average regular season numbers and commit to a)Taking the entire contract, or b)Eating 50% of that over 5 years. I'd absolutely need to know that someone wanted him, and have an offer that made it worth it in place prior to picking him.
