Let's Talk Shatty

Created by: A_K
Team: 2016-17 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 14, 2017
Published: Feb. 14, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My understanding is that GM Armstrong is letting the deals come in and will wait until the desperation peaks on deadline day to make the move.

I think he will do his best to move Shattenkirk to a place that he would re-sign with. But he will still take the best offer on the table, regardless of Shatty's wishes.

The return:
I think a sign-and-trade is pretty farfetched. As far as I know, it would be unprecedented. It's basically taking away Shattenkirk's UFA rights, which he earned. So, no matter where he ends up (renter or keeper), the return should be the same. The best recent precedent is the Yandle trade. Keep in mind Yandle had another year on the contract and the 'Yotes retained salary for the following year, so the return for Shatty should be lower. Also, one could argue that NYR mgmt was extremely desperate, and we likely won't see that level of desperation at this deadline.
Yandle ($ retained), Summers, and a 4th
for
J Duclair, Moore, 1st RDP, and 2nd RDP

I think Shatty will go for a above-average prospect and a 1st. Any thoughts?

As a B's fan i've been preaching for this for a while. B's have three top D prospects in Carlo, McAvoy and Zboril. Not to mention and forget guys like Lauzon, O'Gara and Grezclyk. Would def do this trade.

Very nice trade, Shattenkirk is useless on defence but Boston has enough defensive depth to shield him from top players.
