I'd happily take on Plekanec's contract, but it would cost them their 1st. so that Duchene deal is never going to happen.

OK good luck making a deal with 1 maybe 2 other teams that actually have the cap space then. Oh BTW they have that much cap space because they are intentionally trying to spend less. So I guess you get to keep Duchene until he's a UFA.....

And just for those who continue to spew out the same garbage repeated by others who don't know what they are talking about, Plekanec is still a decent player. He's just paid too much. This isn't the same scenario as a Clarkson. Colorado loses nothing by taking on Plekanec for one more year. NOTHING. Its just money out of the owners pocket. Not yours! Unless that is you think they will go into free agency and add a bunch of players to hopefully go and make the playoffs next year? No. They are just biding their time until the eventual prospects take over for which Pleky will be long gone by then...........
